We’re Going Back to Our Roots at APCO 2017

APCO International’s Annual Conference & Expo is the event for public safety communications professionals. We’ll be attending the conference this year, and are excited to present to an audience of over 5,500 attendees between August 13th-17th. Going to Denver allows us to showcase Orion’s roots: creating a communications system that brings the same capabilities that emergency personnel need to all businesses.

The Origin Story

The emergency service experience of our co-founders, Jesse Robbins, a firefighter, and Greg Albrecht, an EMT, was one of main factors in the creation of Orion Labs. Both of them lead emergency service teams, finding that technology which enables clear, concise communication is critical especially in times of increased stress. When they both started working in the private sector, they realized that this technology doesn’t exist for businesses. This is mainly because businesses cannot afford the specialized technology and training that emergency services utilize. So Jesse and Greg decided to build Orion Labs: to bring the type of communication they knew was most effective to businesses without expensive equipment or training.

APCO 2017

At APCO 2017 our team, including Greg Albrecht, will be at booth 1549. We’ll be talking about the future of voice communication, and how Orion Voice Services can be used in order to coordinate between first responders and dispatchers in non-critical environments.

Stop by our booth to find out how Orion Voice Services was used for administrative communications systems during the SF Pride Parade!

In addition to talking with our team, you’ll be able to try out Orion’s pro services, and compare a traditional, unwieldy walkie-talkie to Orion’s smart walkie-talkie for yourself. If you can guess the difference in weight between the two you’ll be eligible to win two free smart walkie-talkies. We’re giving away a two-pack each day, so there are multiple chances to win.

Make sure you stop by booth 1549 while you’re at APCO 2017, and stay connected with us on Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn.
