Orion Labs Inc. Launches Complete Redesign of Its Push-to-Talk App on Android for Enterprise Teams

Incorporating feedback from its expansive, global customer base and design best practices, Orion Labs Inc. announced the newest version of its communications tool bringing increased features, reliability, and performance of its Push to Talk app on Android

SAN FRANCISCO (Jan. 29, 2019) – Orion Labs Inc., the award-winning mobile voice communication platform for teams, today launched a complete redesign of its Android Push to Talk application (app). The new version of the app now comes with numerous additional features targeted directly to the current and future needs of enterprise teams across a wide range of industries from first responders to hospitality professionals. The new design places a greater emphasis on enhancing the main group screen, with one-tap access to invite more group members or quickly switch between multiple groups, and making it easier to find key information like the Onyx battery life. The app is currently available for download worldwide and can be used on a wide range of Android devices, including Sonim and Kyocera rugged phones.

With 85 percent of professionals using voice tools in the workplace, it is imperative to have a platform that can address issues every day and in real-time. Currently, people use an average of 4.5 communication tools at work which can cause inefficiencies and frustrations when switching between several devices and applications. Orion is solving pain points across industries and challenges within a mobile connected workforce with a reliable device and faster connection so workers can carry one tool that meets the needs of their teams and customers day to day.

Key features of Orion’s redesigned Android app include:

  • Restructured navigation for faster collaboration
  • Clearly organized group settings for admins
  • Lighter color scheme for easy reading in bright daylight
  • Flexible split-screen map view to meet any user’s needs
  • Looks and feels consistent with the iOS app while still using familiar Android interface conventions, making it easier to onboard and train additional team members
  • Significantly increased reliability and performance

“After only one week, we’ve already witnessed the huge difference this app refresh makes,” said Michael A. Keith, Assistant General Manager at Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria, Virginia. “With Orion, we communicate collaboratively across our entire property, which hosts hundreds of guests per day. Our staff use voice communication to save time and to provide our customers with prompt service. In fact, we’ve noticed significantly more positive comments and customer reviews since we began using Orion.”

“Orion is offering first-class, reliable tools for enterprise teams,” said Ellen Juhlin, Head of Product at Orion. “The redesign of our Android app reflects our ongoing commitment to support enterprise and public safety work teams. Our customers using Android devices have given us great feedback about their voice communications requirements, and we’re excited to help them in their digital transformation efforts. Our Android redesign further is one more tool to empower work team communication.”

The new Orion Push to Talk Android app will be rolled out worldwide starting today and can be downloaded in the Google Play store here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.onbeep.obiwan&hl=en_US.
